Weekend rewind (shamrocks & shenanigans '07)

The weather was uncooperative while we drove to the train to pick up Brother B. for his weekend in the 07083. Dangerous sleet; icy roads and a late train, but time for a quick Starbucks and haircut before his arrival. A jaunt to Target for luggage (!) and Vintage Vinyl for treats (I threw down for the "Kisstory" DVD) and off for the greatest burgers in the world. By the time we got back home in the mess, it was an evening of hanging out, talking and catching up.

Saturday was a leisurely breakfast, followed by a trip to Sam Ash to say farewell to my dearest friend of the last 24 years--my 12-string Guild Madeira is no longer with me as the frets are worn and damaged. Going forward, I have a new friend, who I grow more fond of with each day... Another Starbucks stop and then to the city for The Pogues at Roseland. Bitter cold, brutally obnoxious drunks and a less-than stellar perforance from the band did nothing for me. But hey, we stopped at Dunkin' Donuts en route home for green-frosted Boston creme donuts.

Sunday, breakfast pig-out and we said goodbye to B. as we headed off to do our groceries. Crashed when we got home and relaxed for the rest of the day.

With the new guitar, I've been focusing on picking up where I left off with the new material. Was asked by a friend to contribute some guitar and vox for his new project, which I am considering. Such a busy period; all of it good--just need to find the physical energy!

Finally, kudos to the Main Man for another cover article:

The rain, the park and other things

Warm is great, but wet I can do without simply because of the effect on commuting!

Two new songs finished recording, although not yet mixed. Both "Postcard" and "Deceit" came out perfect. No more nor less need be said. So much more to do.

Been busier than before at work; not much time for extracurricular activities--missed the gym a few times (confession); blew off a few planned get-togethers and basically trying to balance daily/professional life, marriage and music. It's just that age is a bastard and I get tired!

At least it's been a musically rich period--not just for recording new material, but listening and enjoying again. Shoutout goes to Liz, thanks to her latest phase.

You wanted the best, you got the best.
